High Altitude Pulmonary Edema -HAPE (Fluid in the Lungs): Similar to Bronchitis (Fever with Chills, Muscle Aches, Nasal Congestion, Sore Throat, Cough (may be dry or may produce Phlegm for 2+ weeks), Persistent Dry Cough, Shortness of Breath (Dyspnea) even when resting, Pink and Frothy Sputum. 2. High Altitude Cerebral Edema - HACE (Swelling of the Brain): Headache that does not respond to Analgesics, Unsteady Gait, Gradual Loss of Consciousness, Increased Nausea, Retinal Hemorrhage causing Visual Impairment, Bladder Dysfunction, Bowel Dysfunction, Loss of coordination, Paralysis on one side of the body, Confusion. HACE is a Life Threatening condition leading to Coma/Death., High Altitude Sickness caused by Thinner Air (less Oxygen) at high Altitude at around 6500 ft above Sea Level
