3rd FOUNDATION DAY OF COLLEGE OF NURSING,
RIMS, IMPHAL CELEBRATED
Director Prof. S. Sekharjit Singh opened a CNE programme
The 3rd Foundation Day Celebrations was held
on 3rd December, 2011 at the Jubilee Hall,
RIMS, Imphal with grand success. It was a historic day
for the College of Nursing of RIMS.
Prof. H. Nandakumar Sarma, Vice-Chancellor, Manipur
University, Prof. S. Sekharjit Singh, Director, RIMS,
Imphal, Prof. N. Damayanti Devi, Principal i/c, College
of Nursing, RIMS, Dr. Manju Vatsa, Principal, College of
Nursing, AIIMS, New Delhi and Dr. Mridula S. Khanikor,
Principal, Regional College of Nursing, GMC, Guwahati
were on dais as Chief Guest, President, Principal and
Guests of Honour respectively.
Prior to the foundation day, a Continuing Nursing
Education (CNE) programme was also held at Jubilee Hall
RMS Imphal. Prof. S. Sekharjit Singh declared the CNE
programme open. Resource persons were Dr. Manju Vatsa,
Principal of College of Nursing, AIIMS, New Delhi and
Dr. Mridula S. Khanikor, Principal of Regional College
of Nursing, GMC, Guwahati.
Dr. Manju Vatsa delivered a talk on “Quality Assurance
in Nursing Education & Services” and Dr. Mridula S.
Khanikor on “Leadership in Nursing”. Professor N.
Damayanti Devi, Principal i/c, College of Nursing, RIMS,
Imphal and Prof. AK. Joy Singh, Prof. of Department of
PMR were the chairpersons during the first session and
Prof. H. Shanti Singh, Medical Superintendent i/c, RIMS
Hospital, Imphal and Prof. Ng. Brajachand Singh, Prof. &
Head of Microbiology Department were the chairpersons of
the second session respectively. Many delegates from
RIMS and RIMS Hospital, Directorate of Health Services,
Govt. of Manipur, Govt. & Private Hospitals and
Institutes apart from the staff and students of the
College of Nursing, RIMS & faculty of RIMS attended the
CNE programme. The interactions between the delegates
and the resource persons were very educative and
beneficial to all present.
The Vice Chancellor of Manipur University, Prof. H.
Nandakumar Sarma, who was speaking as Chief Guest of the
3rd Foundation Day celebrations pointed out
that there were some problems in the beginning of the
College but all these have been shorted out in
consultation with the officials of RIMS. The Vice
Chancellor also expressed happiness that the Nursing
students would be exposed to a better academic
atmosphere since there are several streams in this
college.
In his Presidential address, Director of RIMS, Prof. S.
Sekharjit Singh lauded the effort of Principal in-charge
of the College of Nursing which was facing various
problems. Now with the team work under the supervision
of the Nursing College Development Committee, the
institute emerging as one of the best, he noted.
Making it clear that the College of Nursing will remain
as a part of RIMS and shall never be parted, Director
Prof. S. Sekharjit Singh expressed pride and
satisfaction that Doctors from RIMS are serving
everywhere in the country in general and the north east
states in particular.
Principal of Regional College of Nursing, GMC, Guwahati,
Dr. Mridula S. Khanikor who was also present during the
celebrations as one of the guests of honour observed
that people in other parts of the country feel jealous
of Manipur since the players from the state have been
dominating the sports scene. Likewise, one day the
Nurses from the College of Nursing RIMS would surely
dominate the region.
Principal of College of Nursing, AIIMS Dr. Manju Vatsa
was also present on the dais. Earlier during the
function Principal in-charge Prof. N. Damayanti Devi
presented the milestones and achievements of the College
of Nursing with clarity and concisely.
During the function, prizes were distributed to the
students who secured positions in University
examinations, as well as to those students who secured
highest marks and 75% or more marks in individual
subjects.
Lecturers and Tutors who were appointed recently against
the sanction post by the appropriate Selection Committee
which included the Ministry’s representative and subject
expert from outside the state following the Institute’s
Recruitment Rules were introduced during the
celebrations. Newly admitted 2nd batch
freshers of B.Sc. Nursing were also introduced during
the celebrations. The memorable day ended with a
colorful cultural evening presented by the students of
the College of Nursing & professionals. |
