The foundation stone for construction of a new
OPD block in RIMS along with hostels for House
Surgeons, Internees, Post Graduate,
Undergraduate and Nursing students was been laid
by S Sekharjit, Director, RIMS on 23rd
Feb. 2012.
Expressing happiness over the decision of the
Central government to provide the required fund
for construction of these buildings, Dr
Sekharjit informed that the Institute has found
a good consultant, namely, Hospital Services
Consultancy Corporation (HSCC) Ltd (Noida),
which is a Government of India Undertaking under
the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The
HSCC Ltd has given their consultancy services to
the state by hiring the best contractors from
outside the state.
He pointed out that construction of a new OPD
Block is essential since the present OPD of RIMS
cannot serve the needs of the people. The
proposed construction work on new OPD block has
been initiated after a gap of 4 years when then
Union Minister of Health Anbumani Ramadoss, laid
the foundation stone on May, 2008.
"This is the first phase towards development of
RIMS even though project is nearly 12-13 years
old and just picking up the speed now. We are
lucky that the government has listened to us and
we also have found good consultant, good
contractors and hopefully the work should be
completed within 20 months", Dr Sekharjit
expressed confidence.
He further informed that there would be 250
seats in the Post Graduate Boys' Hostel, 100
seats in the Post Graduate Girls' Hostel, 200
seats in the Nursing Students' Hostel, 50 seats
in Internees and Surgeons' Hostel and 120 seats
in the Under Graduate Ladies' Hostel, and the
OPD would provide facilities for various medical
tests.Corporation (HSCC) Ltd (Noida), which is a
