INTRODUCTION<\/u><\/strong>:<\/u><\/p>\n

The Hospital Based Cancer Registry (HBCR) at the Department of Pathology, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, was established on 10th<\/sup> February, 2015 with Dr. KAUSHIK DEBNATH as Principal Investigator under the aegis of the National Cancer Registry Programme (NCRP) of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)\u2013National Centre for Disease Informatics and Research (NCDIR) now NINE (National Institute of Noncommunicable Disease Epidemiology), Bengaluru, and has been functioning since February 2015. Since 2015, the registry has systematically documented cancer cases (including the cases of 2014) diagnosed and treated at RIMS, generating reliable data that contribute to understanding the cancer burden and patterns of care in Manipur and the surrounding North-Eastern region.<\/p>\n

WORKING OF THE REGISTRY:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Our work mainly consists of data collection from various departments in RIMS where every diagnosed cancer patients are investigated by our Medical social workers through interaction with patients, patient relatives, treating doctors and home visits. Our main tool is the Core Form<\/strong> provided by ICMR-NINE which includes Identifying Information\/ Demographic Details, Diagnostic Details, Clinical Stage, directed Treatments and follow up status.<\/p>\n

Data are collected from various departments and units involved in cancer diagnosis and management within RIMS.<\/p>\n
